CBC TEST

The CBC test, also known as a Complete Blood Count test, is a common blood test that measures various components of your blood. This test is typically done as a part of a routine health check-up or if your doctor suspects that you may have a medical condition that affects your blood cells.

The CBC test measures several components of your blood, including:

Red blood cells (RBCs): This measures the number of red blood cells in your blood. Red blood cells are responsible for carrying oxygen throughout your body.

White blood cells (WBCs): This measures the number of white blood cells in your blood. White blood cells are a vital component of your immune system and help fight infections.

Hemoglobin (Hb): This measures the amount of hemoglobin in your blood. Hemoglobin is a protein in your red blood cells that carries oxygen from your lungs to the rest of your body.

Hematocrit (Hct): This measures the proportion of red blood cells in your blood.

Platelets: This measures the number of platelets in your blood. Platelets are responsible for clotting and preventing excessive bleeding.

The CBC test can help your doctor diagnose a range of medical conditions, such as anemia, infections, leukemia, and other blood disorders. It can also help monitor certain medical conditions, such as cancer or chronic infections. Your doctor will interpret the results of the CBC test in combination with your medical history, physical examination, and other tests to make a diagnosis and develop a treatment plan if necessary.
